Could the Anti Smoking Law in Britain Take Bingo Enthusiasts Online?

Much has been written in the papers just a while ago regarding the bingo industry being hurt as a result of the anti smoking law in Britain. Things have grown so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested huge aid to help keep the businesses from going bankrupt. However will the online variation of this quintessential game present a lifeline, or might it in no way compare to its land based kin?

Bingo has been an familiar game usually enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. Although the game recently had witnessed a recent comeback in popularity with younger members of society opting to hit the bingo parlours in place of the clubs on a Saturday night. This is all about to change with the enacting of the anti smoking law around England and Wales.

Players will no longer be able to smoke whilst dabbing numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 every public area will not be allowed to permit cigarettes in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most favorite areas where people enjoy smoking.

The results of the smoking ban can already be looked at in Scotland where smoking is already illegal in the bingo halls. Players have plunged and the business is literally struggling for to stay alive. But where did the players go? Surely they haven’t cast aside this ancient game?

The answer is on the web. People realise that they can gamble on bingo from their computer while enjoying a cocktail and cigarette and in the end, have a chance at monstrous cash rewards. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on smoking.

Of course playing on the net can never replace the social part of going over to the bingo parlour, but for a group of men and women the rules have left a good many bingo enthusiasts with little alternative.
