An abundance has been talked in the press recently regarding the bingo industry being hurt as a result of the cigarette ban in Britain. Conditions have grown so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded huge aid to help keep the industry from going bankrupt. But does the net adaptation of this quintessential game provide a lifeline, or will it never compare to its real life opposite?

Bingo has been an ancient game generally enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. In any case the game of late had undergone a recent increase in popularity with younger people deciding to go to the bingo parlours in place of the clubs on a weekend. This is all about to be destroyed with the enforcement of the anti cigarette law around Britain.

Players will no longer be able to puff on cigarettes at the same time dabbing numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 all public locations will not be allowed to permit smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo halls, one of the most common areas where folks enjoy smoking.

The effects of the cigarette ban can already be observed in Scotland where smoking is already illegal in the bingo parlors. Players have plummeted and the business is beyond a doubt fighting for to stay alive. But where have all the players gone? Surely they haven’t given up on this enduring game?

The answer is online. People are now realizing that they can participate in bingo from their computer whilst enjoying a beer and cig and in the end, have a chance at big cash rewards. This is a recent phenomenon and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.

Of course wagering on on the web is unlikely to replace the communal aspect of going over to the bingo parlor, but for a demographic of men and women the law has left a good many bingo players with little option.
